  1. Become A Blood Donor -

I have been giving blood pretty regularly for over 10 years now. They are always after my O+ blood!

  2. Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers -

I had not thought of this or realised how much electricity was being used but have now started to unplug chargers and have begun switching off my TV, DVD etc. and computer at the wall sockets. Reducing emissions and my electricity bill – can’t be bad!

  3. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

This is a really worthwhile one – I’ve been making a concerted effort with it this past week. Hope I can keep it up and where possible make do without a bag, especially for groceries etc. I will have to remember to take my own shopping bags – I agree that keeping some in the car is a good idea. N.B. I suprised an assistant at B & Q today by refusing a bag – I told her about being generous and suggested she take a look at the website.

  4. Give Something Away - and declutter your life -

I have recently discovered Freecycle and think it is a fantastic way to begin to de-clutter. I also regularly give stuff away to charity shops or pass things on to family and friends. It really is amazing how much stuff it is possible to accumilate – I need to start on sorting out my garage and my loft – that will keep me going for a while!

  5. Shop locally -

I have just signed up to get a Riverford organic vegetable box each week – am waiting to see what it is like. I also try to buy fairtraid products when I can.

  6. Shop locally -

Further to my comment above. I am really impressed with the Riverford organic box scheme – It suits my busy lifestlye – I would not be able to regularly make it to a farm shop. Getting the box is like Christmas – I love the suprise element and discovering new vegetables – like Romanesco. The veges are fresh and tasty and recipes are included. The week’s predicted box contents are posted on the website the Friday before the delivery the following Wed. You can amend your order on line. I love it and highly recommend the scheme.

  7. Dry clothes outdoors. -

What can I say.. this is something I have been doing for years as long as the weather permits- saves on electricity and I get such a buzz from having fresh smelling clothes.

  8. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

I’m thrilled that my action suggestion about mooncups has been made live on the site. Since starting to use one about 10 months ago I have never looked back. Once you get used to using one it is easy to use, comfortable, convenient and friendly on both the environment and your purse! Why not give one a go – it really is worth it.

  9. More tea vicar? (Don't overfill your kettle.) -

Such a sensible thing to do and something that has been a habit of mine for ages.

  10. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

Hi Everyone Just to say that I don’t boil mine in between periods – I give it a good clean and then sterilise it with Milton sterilizing fluid in a jug. That works a treat and brings it back to good as new ready for next time. Well done all you ladies for giving moon cups a go. Lets keep trying to spread the word.

  11. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

I’ve been using my mooncup for almost 2 years now – it’s great and I’ve never known mine to leak no-matter what I am doing. Sitting cross-legged on the floor wouldn’t make it leak as it is held securely inside. It really is worth giving it a go from both a financial and environmentally friendly point of view.

  12. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

Four years on and I am still using mine – and the same one at that! It continues to works brilliantly. I would love to see more women being brave enough to give a Mooncup a go – it really is worth it.
