  1. Get Rid Of Some Of Your Books -

Don’t forget the doctor’s & dentist’s surgery when getting rid of magazines – I’d welcome a copy of NI when I’m waiting at the doctor’s – our surgery’s generally has a dire selection! If I remember to, I take some reading material with me and then leave it there for others.

  2. Compost Your Leftovers -

A new lease of life for our composting – our council had a composting day, so we picked up a £10 wooden bin for ourselves to supplement our existing one. Even managed to squeeze a big plastic one in the car to save a friend making the jouney too!

  3. Ditch The Disposable Items -

Just ordered a Mooncup – it better be good!

  4. Ditch The Disposable Items -

Just ordered a Mooncup – it better be good!

  5. Improve your home's energy efficiency -

In our previous house we put Warmcell insulation in our loft. It is made from recycled newsprint. Details of it from here: http://www.greenshop.co.uk. We put ours in ourselves – it was very easy and wasn’t expensive. We now sleep in our attic room, so that makes insulating it less easy!

  6. Send a Child a Christmas Box -

http://www.thesmilesfoundation.org/ send a ‘sack of smiles’ to children in Romania. You can sponsor a sack for £30 or part of a sack for less. They buy all the gifts in Romania, which supports the local economy as well as costing less to transport.

  7. Ditch The Disposable Items -

So far, so good! No more guilt about disposable sanitary items adding to the landfill – hurray!

  8. Ditch The Disposable Items -

Lucrezia – poor you! I trimmed a fair bit off mine and then got really scared that I’d never get it out again. Relaxing is the technique that works, but very hard to do if you are panicking that it is stuck!!

On another subject – I just bought ecoballs for my washing machine. They apparently last for 750 washes and can then be refilled for a further 250. No more washing powder – yippee!

  9. Commit random acts of generosity -

I’ve challenged the youth club I run to commit to 40 acts of kindness for lent – hopefully we’ll all be continuing after lent too!

  10. Get Rid Of Some Of Your Books -

I’m really enjoying using www.readitswapit.co.uk very good fun and it means I don’t mind getting rid of my books because the people swapping actually want to read them.

  11. Put Eco Balls in your Washing Machine -

We’ve been using ours for a few months now and have been pleased with the results. They are hopefully saving the life of our washing machine too as we now turn the dial on to miss out the rinse cycles. This means a washing cycle is now 1/2 hour instead of 1 hour. When washing things that have been weed on by the cat(!) we still add a bit of washing powder, but the balls seem to cope with everything else ok.

  12. Put Eco Balls in your Washing Machine -

Haven’t seen the Bettaware ones but I know my sister started out with a single ball which wasn’t very effective and is now happy with her pack of 3 which are the same as ours. It may be that you only get one from Bettaware or they may not have so many beans – the ones we have give you top up beans and claim to manage 750 washes (+ another 250 with the top up beans). Hope that helps to compare them – let us know if the bettaware ones are any good!

  13. Use 'real' nappies -

Shortly to be entering the world of nappies and have been given some real ones – hurray! Has anyone tried washing their real nappies using ecoballs? If so does that work ok, or do they need washing hotter? As ours are second hand they don’t come with instructions!

  14. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

Been using mine just over 4 years now and love it. Have lost a couple (so now have a spare on in a safe place!)and have melted one in a saucepan (oops!), but wouldn’t be without one – they are excellent.
Interested in the comment about getting pregnant after switching as I did too (after 11yrs of infertility). Interesting…

  15. Save our Forests -

did the petition & e-mailed my mp too.
