  1. Give Thanks Before A Meal -

We have done this since we have been married. Even though I struggle with faith, I still feel the need to express gratitude for all that we have.

It is easier to do at home. We have a grace dice with 6 graces to use when lacking inspiration or to avoid the awkwardness of spontaneous prayer in front of friends who do not practise any faith. When we have vistors from other faiths, we tend to invite them to say the prayer of thanks. Away from home we do not push the issue, but friends and family now sometimes invite us to say grace when we visit them.

  2. Offset your Airmiles -

We have been a bit hit and miss with regard to offsetting flights over the past couple of years. We were introduced to the idea by Journey Latin America, a tour company who organised a holiday in Peru for us. From carbon point of view it would probably be better not to fly, but travelling independently delivers cash into developing countries and promotes the development of national parks etc. Besides we enjoy travelling. Offsetting seems like the next best thing.

  3. Organise Your Money (What You Want To Give Away) -

We have been doing this for a while. Royal Bank of Scotland has an excellent Give As You Earn scheme for its staff, whereby it double matches the first £100 donated per month per employee. So for every £1 given, nett cost is about 80p and the charity gets £3.

  4. Take A Mug To Work - don't use plastic -

    Just started doing this.
