  1. Buy Presents That Make A Difference -

This Christmas my goal is to give everyone either something I’ve made myself or an alternative gift where a charity gets a donation. I’m a big knitter so I’ve got lots of hats and scarves underway which I am trying to knit mostly out of yarn I’ve already got so I don’t have to buy too much. I might also knuckle down and make some fudge and / or chutney as my dad is a big fan of both. Depends what there is a glut of in the garden!

In terms of alternative gifts I am rather biased as I am FD of War on Want, and we have just launched our own gift list so I will be giving those. As I say, I am biased but I do think we’ve got some good things on offer so here’s a link to our site if you want to take a look : www.waronwant.org

  2. Recycle Your Stuff -

I’ve been really lazy about recycling since I moved recently so this is a good time to spur myself back into action.

  3. Give Your Unwanted / Unworn Clothes To Charity -

I have a load of stuff that I sorted out to take the charity shop ages ago but just haven’t got round to dealing with so I’m going to try and get this one done over Christmas.

  4. Choose to have one meat-free day a week in your home -

This should be easy for me as I haven’t eaten red meat for the last 18 years or so, but thinking about it I still eat quite a lot of chicken and fish and it would be good to cut down on that. I think for me this action will also include not eating chicken that has not been produced humanely – I’m quite good at that at home already but I tend not to think about it so much when I’m in restuarants

  5. Start A Generous blog or journal -

I already keep a Live Journal and I’m going to complete this action by talking more about the Generous Project in that forum. Hopefully this will have the dual benefit of encouraging others to take up some of the actions too.

  6. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

I’m getting better at this, particularly at the supermarket, but it’s difficult to refuse them in other shops I find. More focus required I think.

  7. Energy Efficient Cooking -

This sounds interesting – I’ll give it a whirl and see how it goes.
