  1. Offset your Airmiles -

Cool. Just back from a trip to Barcelona for my 30th birthday. I agree that planting a tree probably isn’t going to make an immediate difference to much other than my guilty conscience! But it has done that and made my holiday even more satisfying!

  2. Wear Your 'Make Poverty History' Band -

I had lapsed in my white band wearing but as white band day 3 is fast approaching (December 10th) it is time to revive it!

  3. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

I keep trying with this one. I get disproportionately irritated when shop assistants get them out before I can say “I don’t need a bag thank you” but when someone asks me if I want a bag I feel like cheering!

I still get caught out though when I find myself shopping without having planned to…mmmm maybe that’s another thing to look at!

  4. Change Someone's Life With A Book -

Discovered Richard Madeley’s book in SPCK really recently which was very timely as we were having a MPH service on Dec 11th. The service went well and I managed to sell a few copies of the book afterwards (as well as keeping one for me and one for a friend). People were very interested as finding small manageable ways to make a difference inspires us to take action. Much like ‘Living Generously’!

  5. Love books? Join the library -

Libraries are fab particularly my local in the Forum in Norwich. Up until recently the library was my only way of accessing the internet…for free :o) Also borrowing cds from the library is a great way of listening to stuff you may never buy but still have an interest in.

I also recommend bookcrossing.com I am an enthusiastic new convert since discovering my first bookcrossing book in May. Not about libraries I know but a very generous principle about books and a guaranteed way to free up some shelf space! See the website for more details.

  6. Dry clothes outdoors. -

Easy-peasy when you live in the East of England where the sun shines…!
