  1. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

Use bags for life. Try to use our supermarket as little as possible (and always waitrose – NEVER tesco!!). Anything I buy that is already excessively packaged, I tend to unpack and leave at the checkout. I always buy fruit and veg loose and never use the plastic bags provided. My supermarket seems suprisingly ok about this.

  2. Shop locally -

My priority is supporting British farmers and our economy as opposed to importing fairtrade products. WIll always go for the Fairtrade option when local is not an option t – i.e. we don’t grow bananas in this country!

However, we tend to be very focused on Fairtrade for developing countries when our own farming industry is on it’s knees. Fairtrade for our farmers is what we need. Currently involved in the WI/NFU Milk debate – scary stuff. Support local and OUR farmers unless you want to be importing milk from Poland.

Fruit and veg is a problem where we live. A couple of monthly farmers markets, on market stall on Saturday and that’s it. Would like the opportunity to get more local perishables.

  3. Use 'real' nappies -

Oscar is nearly 10 weeks and we’ve been using Cottontail Company one size nappies. They’re also organic cotton – does that give me double brownie points??!

Finding them incredibly easy to use and quick to dry. They are specifically designed not to be bulky and have a high cute factor. I don’t have a tumble dryer (is that now triple brownie points??!) and have managed very well despite the horrendous weather. I have to admit though, I do have a aga which I hang them on (oops).
